Meet the EFIS Board and learn about EFIS activities

EFIS supports many initiatives across Europe in order to facilitate the exchange of scientific knowledge, especially among young
people. On a regular basis, EFIS, in cooperation with its official journals, the European Journal of Immunology (EJI) and Immunology
Letters (IL), provides:
- financial support for conferences (EFIS-EJI Meetings)
- travel bursaries to enable young scientists to attend conferences such as the European Congress of Immunology (ECI), International Congress of Immunology (ICI), etc.
- fellowships (EFIS-IL Fellowships)
- EFIS-EJI Ita Askonas Award
- support for public awareness initiatives (Day of Immunology etc.)
For more information on all of these EFIS activities and to meet members of the EFIS Board, visit the EFIS booth at ICI.

Special EJI Sessions: How to get published

The European Journal of Immunology (EJI) is the 11th ranked primary immunology journal (Journal Citation Reportss, Thomson
Reuters’ ISI Web of KnowledgeSM) and is an official journal of EFIS. The cooperation with EFIS and the financial support provided by
EJI’s profits enables EFIS to carry out many of the activities listed above. As well as supporting EFIS, EJI enables scientists to
disseminate their findings by publishing their research in the journal; however, competition to publish in EJI is fierce and only 30%
of all submitted research articles are accepted for publication. So how do you beat the competition and what are the key factors to
remember when writing a paper? The Managing Editor of EJI, Cate Livingstone, will be on hand at the EFIS Booth to provide
answers to these questions, offer some tips, discuss the peer-review process and listen to any feedback about EJI. The timing of these
sessions will be advertised at the EFIS Booth at the start of the Congress. If publishing tips are not enough to get you to the Booth,
free coffee will also be provided!

EFIS provides 100 travel grants at a value of € 1,000 for European scientists to attend ICI 2010.

Improving the public awareness of immunology - www.immunology-info.org

We are currently working on a new website, intended to provide basic immunological information and education, for laypeople, kids and adolescents.

We appreciate any ideas what may be added to such an informative website. Feel free to spread the word for us.

Your Amazing Immune System - How it Protects Your Body

You can download a free pdf of the book "Your Amazing Immune System - How it Protects Your Body" from the website www.immunology-info.org.

The book was originally compiled by the Japanese Society for Immunology for DoI 2008, EFIS has initiated its English translation for a broader readership.

Do you know any schools or libraries that may be interested in receiving hard copies of the book?

Feel free to spread the word for us!
