ACTERIA Awards

Thanks to a partnership established in 2012 between the FONDATION ACTERIA – ACTing on European Research in Immunology and Allergology – and EFIS, the ACTERIA Prizes are awarded to recognize and reward Europe’s young scientists in the fields of immunology and allergology. 

The Prizes, two each in immunology and allergology, honour outstanding achievements in fundamental research performed in a European institute. The ACTERIA Doctoral Thesis and Early Career Research Prizes each carry cash awards of €30,000, plus the possibility of financing of €50,000/year for three-year research projects to be performed in European institutions.

How the Prizes are Awarded

Two ACTERIA Prizes are assigned annually on an alternating basis:

  • Two ACTERIA Doctoral Thesis Prizes, one each in immunology and allergology, will be awarded in even-numbered years for the best doctoral theses in the 3 years prior to application submission deadlines.
  • Two ACTERIA Early Career Researcher Prizes, one each in immunology and allergology, will be awarded in odd-numbered years to researchers with up to 10 years of postdoctoral experience.

How to Apply

  • Individual researchers who meet the eligibility criteria and are members in good-standing of an EFIS-affiliated national society are invited to apply. Applications will be forwarded to the applicant’s respective National Society for the evaluation and selection of nominees.
  • Nominations will be accepted exclusively from EFIS-affiliated National Societies, which will have the option of submitting one candidate for each prize.
  • The calls for applications for the ACTERIA Prizes awarded by EFIS open on October 1st and close on December 31st of each year.
